Lil Durk has had quite a prolific year, marked by the release of “Almost Healed.” While it may not have been as groundbreaking as “The Voice” and his previous works, it undeniably made its mark in his repertoire. Notable singles like “All My Life” featuring J. Cole showcased the Chicago rapper’s growing maturity and solidified his position as a prominent figure in the drill scene. However, since the album’s release, he has been teasing a deluxe edition of “Almost Healed,” and it seems like it might finally drop before the year concludes.
Recently, at a SiriusXM + Pandora Playback event in Atlanta, Lil Durk unveiled a few new tracks, including one titled “Smurk Carter.” From the production to his flows, it’s evident that Durk is striving to establish himself as a formidable rapper in his own right, one worthy of being mentioned alongside the best.
The influence of Jay-Z and Lil Wayne from their 2000s reign is apparent in the snippet. Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait long for its release, as the rapper shared the single’s cover art on his Instagram page with the caption, “Song for the trenches (Smurk Carter) Nov 10th.” The cover art pays homage to Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter II” era, featuring Durk with photoshopped face tattoos and the iconic Bape hoodie.
Even after dropping his album, Lil Durk has continued to deliver new music, particularly in the form of guest features. His most recent collaboration was with City Girls on their new album, “RAW.” Furthermore, he has been broadening his musical horizons outside of hip-hop with some of his latest releases. Durk teamed up with Afrobeats artist Ayra Starr on David Guetta’s “BIG FU” and collaborated with K-Pop group Stray Kids and Burna Boy for the remix of “All My Life.”
We’re eagerly anticipating Lil Durk’s forthcoming single, “Smurk Carter.” It appears to be a promising track that will further showcase his artistic growth. For now, check out the snippet and cover art for the song above, and don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
