BIG3 will return to CBS Sports in the summer of 2024 for its latest season
The popular three-on-three basketball league, BIG3, founded by Ice Cube, is set to make a comeback on various CBS Sports platforms in the summer of 2024.
According to a press release issued on Monday, the 2024 season will feature 20 regular games, as well as the BIG3 playoffs, championship game, All-Star game, and the celebrity game, all to be aired on CBS Sports.
BIG3 Founder Ice Cube expressed his excitement about the return to CBS Sports, saying, “CBS feels like home for the BIG3, so it’s good to be back home. The best 3-on-3 basketball in the world on the best network in the world. It’s only right.”
Dan Weinberg, Executive Vice President of Programming at CBS Sports, acknowledged BIG3’s ability to deliver an exciting brand of basketball to a passionate audience, along with their community and player-oriented efforts. He added, “We look forward to the BIG3 returning to our slate of action-packed summer programming on CBS and Paramount+.”
The 2024 BIG3 season is scheduled to run from Saturday, June 15 to Sunday, August 18. Specific details, including the full schedule and broadcast assignments, will be released at a later date.
The partnership between BIG3 and CBS Sports began in 2019 and has continued to thrive.
In recent years, BIG3 gained attention for its concerns regarding the lack of coverage from the sports media. Ice Cube, the league’s founder, drew attention to the issue, sparking discussions about the media’s handling of BIG3.
BIG3 serves as an exciting addition to CBS Sports’ summer programming, filling a void in the sports calendar, making the decision to continue their partnership a logical one for both parties.
