Rick Ross has conveyed his aspiration to sign Kanye West and release his forthcoming album.
The head of MMG shared this ambition on his Instagram Stories on October 19, suggesting the potential for a historic collaboration.
In a video message, Rick Ross unveiled his vision, saying, “I’ve just had a brilliant idea, a visionary concept. This is something I find entirely feasible. We’ve already crafted extraordinary artistic creations together.”
He elaborated on his proposition: “The entrepreneur, Ricky Rozay, is keen on bringing Kanye West on board, under the Maybach Music label. Ye, are you interested? Let’s have a conversation. Together, we can create a historic moment.”
After making his proposal, Rick Ross played “Barry Bonds” from Kanye West’s Graduation album while cruising in his car.
In a subsequent clip, he reaffirmed his proposal by extending an offer to distribute Kanye’s upcoming joint album with Ty Dolla $ign and suggesting innovative ideas for the Yeezy brand.
“Picture if Kanye allowed MMG to handle the distribution of his upcoming project,” he emphasized. “Think about it. Reflect on your favorite collaboration between Rick Ross and Kanye. Envision the artistic synergy. I also have some groundbreaking ideas for the Yeezy brand. Let’s have a conversation.”
Rick Ross’ proposition came shortly after reports that Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign were searching for a distributor for their collaborative album, which remained untitled at the time.
While the album was initially slated for release on October 13, it was later postponed by a few weeks, with sources suggesting that a decision on distribution was pending.
According to Billboard, some major label executives had declined the opportunity to distribute the project due to controversial remarks made by Kanye West in the past year. Nevertheless, several smaller distributors were actively vying for the opportunity.
Kanye’s previous association with Def Jam, including his G.O.O.D. Music partnership, concluded with the release of Donda in 2021. The label distanced itself from him following his controversial statements.
Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign were expected to debut their album at a large-scale concert in Italy later in the same month, although the exact date and location remained unconfirmed.
Rick Ross has collaborated with Kanye West on multiple occasions, contributing to tracks such as “Ԁevil in a New Dress,” “Monster,” and “Live Fast, Ԁie Young.” During an appearance on HBO’s The Shop in April, Rick Ross recalled a particular moment when Kanye challenged him to rewrite his verse on “Ԁevil in a New Dress.”
