The Toronto rap sensation, who has worked extensively with Rick Ross, has repeatedly heaped accolades on his longtime collaborator and buddy. In addition to “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” off of “Scary Hours 2,” Drizzy and Ross have worked together on “God Roses,” “Pop That,” “Aston Martin Music,” “No New Friends,” and many other albums.
Drake posted a clip of Rick and Smiley (whom Drizzy recently collaborated with on “Over The Top”) on his Instagram account. He captioned the video, “The greatest rapper alive met my favorite rapper alive.” Drake has previously called Smiley a “inspiration,” and the news that he is one of the most nominated musicians for the 2019 Grammys came only a day after he made the declaration. After years of listening to and discussing the music of Smiley, a new Toronto rapper and friend, Drake finally signed him in 2021. The song “Over the Top,” which the two worked on together, became viral this summer on platforms like Tik-Tok. Rick Ross has proven, with his most recent works, that he is currently among the industry’s elite.
