Because of the friendship between the two, Nicki Minaj moved the album release date to avoid the same date as Lil Wayne
Because Nicki Minaj has postponed the release of Pink Friday 2, there won’t be an album sales showdown between the two artists next month. November 17 was scheduled to bring Nicki’s much awaited new album, as well as Wayne’s Welcome 2 ColleGrove duet with 2 Chainz. However, she announced to her followers on Instagram Live on Tuesday, October 24, that the project has been postponed until December 8, which is her birthday.
The “Super Freaky Girl” hitmaker refuted rumors that her Young Money mentor had tampered with her album’s release date, saying during the livestream that the decision to postpone it was taken privately “some time” ago. “My album date has been modified,” she declared. It’s been altered behind the scenes for a while. You know how me and Weezy play, right? Weezy and 2 Chainz announced their date, as you can see.
“I wanted to make sure you folks knew that he would never do that if it was my album date. Because I saw that some of you people were doubting that.
She went on, “I’ve moved my record release date to—and I promise the Barbz will understand why, I promise. You’ll say, “You did the right thing, Nick,” when I explain why I made the changes. Pink Friday 2, which I’m thrilled to say will be released on December 8th, is a very meaningful day for me and the Barbz. This is the new album date for this amazing body of work, of which I’m really proud.
